- Measure description
- Measured manually with a Shelly Plus Plug UK, polling its Switch.GetStatus apower every 2 s and averaging, with the camera on its own USB adapter (the adapter's draw is included). Privacy mode on: 2.1 W; watching by day (night vision forced off, colour image): 2.3 W; watching at night (night vision forced on, IR LEDs lit, black-and-white image): 3.2 W. 60-90 s per state after settling, repeated privacy readings agreed within 0.05 W. tapo_control has no day/night sensor, so the Night Vision Switching select decides: forced on uses the IR figure, forced off the day figure, and on auto the sun is the proxy for IR. Firmware 1.9.3 Build 260521. Spotlight: when it is lit it replaces the IR LEDs rather than adding to them. Total draw by spotlight intensity (mean of two sessions, Full Color at night): 1 = 2.54, 2 = 2.67, 3 = 3.07, 4 = 3.46, 5 = 3.89 W; a manual activation measured the same as Full Color at the same intensity (3.93 vs 3.88 W at 5). Privacy mode takes precedence: turning it on while the spotlight was lit dropped the draw to privacy level (1.99 W) and the light entity switched off within 2 s. In Smart mode a motion trigger lit the spotlight for about 50 s, then the camera returned to IR. tapo_control's intensity number advertises 1-50, but this camera only accepts 1-5 (JurajNyiri/HomeAssistant-Tapo-Control#1443); values outside 1-5 are clamped. The light entity is polled, so the estimate can lag the real spotlight by about 30 s.
